Book of Esther / Hamans Decree
Haman the Agagite had been raised up in power by Xerxes the king to high status in the kingdom and it was lawful to bow to him and do obeisance to him and it was done by all except by Mordecai who would not do it because it was unlawful according to the Mosaic law. This really made Haman wroth and then finding out that Mordecai was a Jew, Haman sought to kill Mordecai and all the Jews and take all their possessions and put in the palace to pay off war debts. Haman got a decree from Xerxes to kill these people take their goods because this people did not honor the kings law, at least according to Haman. Xerxes and Haman were happy about this but the people were confused as to why the king wanted all the nice peaceful people dead.
